What CNG mileage means and how to measure it
CNG stands for compressed natural gas. Vehicle mileage is normally measured in kilometres per kilogram (km/kg): divide the distance travelled primarily on CNG by the kilograms refilled.
For a standard Conventional or Sequential application, reset the trip meter after a representative fill, note petrol used during starting or changeover, and repeat the measurement over several comparable refills. Traffic, load, driving style, air-conditioning, tyre condition, service condition, gas quality, pump pressure and ambient temperature can change the result.
How far can 1 kg of CNG run, and how much is needed for 100 km?
There is no single distance for every car. If the measured mileage is M km/kg, one kilogram gives an indicative M kilometres and 100 km needs approximately 100 ÷ M kilograms.

Calculate CNG cost per km, savings and payback
For standard petrol-injection applications using Conventional or Sequential CNG, MIJO's general thumb rule estimates CNG mileage in km/kg at approximately 1.5 times actual petrol mileage in km/l: 10 km/l gives an illustrative 15 km/kg. Prefer measured mileage from comparable fills when available. CNG cost per km = local CNG price per kg ÷ measured CNG mileage in km/kg. Petrol cost per km = local petrol price per litre ÷ measured petrol mileage in km/l. Saving per km is the difference; monthly saving equals that difference multiplied by monthly distance travelled primarily on CNG. For a standard Conventional or Sequential application, indicative payback = installed conversion cost ÷ monthly saving. Keep fuel prices, mileage, running and conversion cost editable, and include petrol used during starting or changeover plus relevant service and inspection costs. For DI, use the vehicle-specific calculator's estimated savings and payback; the standard rule does not apply.
Use a current local CNG price
CNG prices vary by country, supplier and date. Enter the current local CNG price per kg and petrol price per litre. Use the same currency for every fuel price and installation cost; no Indian fuel-price default is applied.
Enter the current automotive fuel rate published by the local supplier in your destination country. A domestic LPG cylinder price is not an automotive CNG rate. All price and installation entries must use the same currency.

Compare CNG and petrol through cost per kilometre
CNG mileage is expressed in km/kg while petrol mileage is expressed in km/l. Do not compare those mileage numbers directly. Calculate each fuel's cost per kilometre using current local prices and measured results from comparable routes.
Cylinder water capacity, gas fill and range are different
A cylinder's litre marking describes water capacity, not a fixed retail CNG fill. Actual kilograms accepted vary with the certified cylinder specification, residual pressure, gas temperature, station pressure and cut-off conditions.
Indicative range = usable CNG mass from a measured fill × measured km/kg. Record several fills before using the result for route planning and retain a suitable petrol reserve in a dual-fuel vehicle.
CNG mileage by vehicle model
Model-specific enquiries include Honda Amaze; Hyundai Aura, Creta, Exter and Grand i10 Nios; Kia Carens; Maruti Suzuki Alto, Baleno, Brezza, Celerio, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Swift and Dzire; Nissan Magnite; Renault Kiger, Kwid and Triber; Tata Altroz, Nexon, Punch, Tiago and Tigor; Toyota Glanza; and the supplied name Victoris. If a model name or spelling is unclear, confirm the make and exact variant before using any figure.
For every model, identify the model year, petrol engine, transmission and variant, and separate a factory-certified claim from an aftermarket measured result. If no current official exact-variant source is available, measure the actual vehicle instead of borrowing another model's figure.
Factory vehicle information and aftermarket conversion figures are separate
A factory-CNG vehicle's on-road price is set by the vehicle manufacturer and dealer for the exact variant, city and date. An aftermarket quotation covers the conversion system and installation scope. For example, a Kia Carens on-road price is not a MIJO conversion quotation.
Likewise, Tata Punch tank capacity must come from the exact model and variant specification or the documented aftermarket installation—there is no universal capacity for every Punch enquiry.
Registration, insurance and ownership checks
Do not assume a subsidy or tax concession in the calculation. Include a benefit only when the issuing authority confirms the current destination, vehicle category and applicant eligibility. Confirm equipment compatibility, installation documents, local registration requirements and insurer acceptance before conversion.
