Prices, tariffs and real-world consumption change, so calculate cost per kilometre with current local figures rather than a universal mileage claim.
Refuelling, charging and range
CNG refuelling is usually quick, although station coverage and queues vary. An EV can be convenient when it charges while parked, but public charging speed, reliability and route coverage matter on longer journeys.
Compare the driver's regular route and parking situation instead of relying only on rated range.
Purchase, conversion and maintenance
A CNG conversion may extend the use of a suitable petrol car, subject to compatibility, approval and fitment requirements. A new EV may cost more upfront but has fewer routine powertrain service items; battery condition and replacement risk remain important ownership considerations.

Environmental context
EVs have no tailpipe emissions, while their lifecycle impact depends on electricity generation, manufacturing and battery use. CNG still produces tailpipe greenhouse gases but may lower some emissions compared with conventional fuels in suitable applications.
For city commuting with reliable charging, an EV may be compelling; for long or intensive routes near CNG infrastructure, CNG may remain practical.
Can an electric car be converted to CNG?
A battery-electric vehicle has no petrol engine and is not a CNG-conversion application. A mild-hybrid or Smart Hybrid vehicle is a different architecture and requires a separate, exact-model technical and approval review before any CNG proposal is considered.
